Wastewater Treatment Plant

The Wastewater Treatment Plant is designed to remove biological and chemical waste from the water thus allowing it to be used for other activities.

Functions of WWTP Include:

In Batam City, the WWTP management system has the following functions:

Municipal wastewater treatment, to remove human waste and other household waste.
Industrial wastewater treatment, to treat liquid waste from industrial and commercial manufacturing activities, including mining activities.

Batam Sewerage System

BP Batam is currently accelerating the work on the WasteWater Treatment Plant (WWTP) project.

The benefits of this WWTP development include securing reservoirs from domestic waste, structuring sanitation, and environmental health, as well as improving the health status of the community in Batam.

Additionally, the construction of the WWTP in Batam will provide a new source of raw water that will further support the supply of raw water for Batam, in addition to rain-fed reservoir. The WWTP project’s first phase is focused on the Batam Center area.

 

Water is a vital resource that is necessary for life. Batam, which does not have a natural source of ground water, will be greatly helped by the management of renewable wastewater that is environmentally friendly in order to fulfill water needs of Batam.

After Batam Center, the WWTP construction projects will be carried out at 6 regional points, in Tanjung Uma, Bengkong, Telaga Punggur, Tembesi, Sekupang, and Kabil.

BP Batam has built a WWTP in Bengkong Sadai with a capacity of 20,000 cubic meters per day, equivalent to 230 liters per second. Five pumping stations have been installed to pump domestic waste to the WWTP. This system is already connected to people's homes.

The recycling process at WWTP will produce 18 cubic meters of compost per day and also produce recycled clean water which will be reused for industrial needs.
